2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the development team at their internal studio, which is currently developing the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Management Change Follows Mixed Response
The new appointee assumes the role of studio head at 31st Union following the departure of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's underwhelming unveiling last autumn.
Recently, 2K president a key figure notified team members about this decision through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had shown the requirement for a clearer vision.
Ismailer noted that the developers is now reimagining Project Ethos with a revised vision, aiming to better meet gamer demands.
A Pattern of Key Acquisitions
The news follows a similar move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited an industry veteran from the Diablo team to assist with the BioShock development group.
Here is the entire message from Ismailer's memo:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just wrapped up your town hall - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Last time I sent you all a message, I stated the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative developers we have had the chance to work with - and we’re looking forward for that collaboration to continue.”
Through your commitment and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.
The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was enlightening. It validated the potential of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the necessity for a sharper vision.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the input to heart and reimagined Project ETHOS with a revitalized vision - one that’s ready to achieve its ambition to our players.
The trust in Project ETHOS increases every day. To boost the remarkable progress you’ve made, It is a pleasure to welcome Ben Brinkman as the incoming Lead of 31st Union. Following several months of conversations, he officially joins us on next week.
Ben’s management and expertise in the PVP shooter field is vast, having spent the last 15 years producing and overseeing some of the most popular titles in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in greeting him soon. We are all excited to keep seeing the evolution of Project ETHOS in the weeks to ahead.
The President
